]]>THE PEOPLE’S MANIFESTO
The Wales Green Party, Plaid Cymru and members of community groups across the city have joined forces to create the Common Ground Alliance.
We will reject the tired, uninspiring politics of Cardiff Labour’s Council – who allow developers to profit while our quality of life suffers.
The people of this fantastic city deserve better. We will change the way this city works. And we will put you at the heart of it all.
Vote for the Change Cardiff Needs. Vote for the Common Ground Alliance on the 5th of May.
MANIFFESTO’R BOBL
Mae Plaid Werdd Cymru, Plaid Cymru ac aelodau o grwpiau cymunedol ar draws y ddinas wedi cyfuno i greu’r Cynghrair Tir Cyffredin.
Byddwn yn ymwrthod â gwleidyddiaeth flinedig, di-ysbryd Cyngor Llafur Caerdydd – sy’n galluogi datblygwyr gwneud elw tra bod ein hansawdd bywyd ni’n dioddef.
Mae pobl y ddinas wych hon yn haeddu gwell. Byddwn yn newid y ffordd y mae’r ddinas hon yn gweithio. A byddwn yn eich rhoi chi wrth galon y cyfan.
Pleidleisiwch dros y Newid sydd ei Angen ar Gaerdydd. Pleidleisiwch dros Cynghrair Tir Cyffredin ar y 5ed o Fai

]]>Plaid Cymru and the Green Party have today announced the formation of a new electoral alliance for next year’s council elections in Cardiff.
In what is a ground-breaking development for elections in Cardiff, campaigners have announced that the alliance will work together as a single united party across the city’s wards heading towards election day.
Protecting and enhancing public green spaces, fairer housing, tackling the climate crisis, and giving real democratic power to communities will feature in a joint manifesto, to be launched later in the year.
The initiative has emerged from common concerns amongst party members and campaigners in the capital city, calling for a more progressive and inclusive approach to local decision-making. The alliance embraces independent grassroots activists from outside of Plaid Cymru and the Green Party, who share common ground with the parties on vital campaign issues in the city.
Work is now underway to set up joint slates of candidates across the city in order to provide a positive electoral alternative to the incumbent city administration.
Anthony Slaughter, Wales Green Party leader, said
“Working together with others to bring this exciting alliance together ahead of next year’s Cardiff Council elections has been inspiring. At a time of Climate and Environmental Emergency and growing inequality, ‘Business as Usual’ politics is failing our communities at every level of government.
Warm words and vague ambitions from elected representatives are no longer enough as Cardiff suffers from an increasing loss of invaluable public green spaces, inappropriate over development and planning decisions all so often skewed against the needs of the communities impacted.
Wales Green Party believes that power and decision making should always be devolved to the most appropriate local level, and we believe that this alliance on areas of common ground will give Cardiff voters an opportunity to vote for real change and genuine community representation.
The challenges facing our capital city are urgent and require new ways of thinking. This working together, cooperative ‘grown up’ politics is the change that is needed.”
Rhys ab Owen MS, who has taken part in discussions to form the alliance, commented:
“Plaid Cymru in Cardiff is proud to be part of this announcement of a new political alliance in our capital city. This new electoral alternative can be the change that Cardiff needs, offering communities a fresh political voice by standing under a single joint name on the ballot paper.
This is about recognising common ground between our parties and campaigners, and working together to do politics in a new and more co-operative way, recognising the need for a new political force that will protect and nurture everything that is good about Cardiff, and which will meet the challenge of the climate crisis and the reckless and faceless over-development we’re seeing in parts of the city.
We are actively reaching out to those from outside of politics who might share our values and can make a difference.”
Those wishing to join the campaign are invited to get in touch at post@commonground.cymru.
Heddiw mae Plaid Cymru a’r Blaid Werdd wedi cyhoeddi y bydd cynghrair etholiadol newydd yn cael ei ffurfio ar gyfer etholiadau’r cyngor y flwyddyn nesaf yng Nghaerdydd.
Yn yr hyn sy’n ddatblygiad arloesol ar gyfer etholiadau yng Nghaerdydd, mae ymgyrchwyr wedi cyhoeddi y bydd y gynghrair yn gweithio gyda’i gilydd fel plaid unedig ar draws wardiau’r ddinas wrth weithio tuag at ddiwrnod yr etholiad.
Bydd amddiffyn a gwella mannau gwyrdd cyhoeddus, tai tecach, mynd i’r afael ag argyfwng yr hinsawdd, a rhoi pŵer democrataidd go iawn i gymunedau yn ymddangos mewn maniffesto ar y cyd, a fydd yn cael ei lansio yn ddiweddarach yn y flwyddyn.
Mae’r fenter wedi deillio o bryderon cyffredin ymhlith aelodau’r pleidiau ac ymgyrchwyr yn y brifddinas, gan alw am ddull mwy blaengar a chynhwysol o wneud penderfyniadau lleol. Mae’r gynghrair yn cynnwys gweithredwyr llawr gwlad annibynnol o’r tu allan i Blaid Cymru a’r Blaid Werdd, sy’n rhannu tir cyffredin gyda’r pleidiau ar faterion ymgyrchu hanfodol yn y ddinas.
Mae gwaith bellach ar y gweill i sefydlu rhestri ar y cyd o ymgeiswyr ledled y ddinas er mwyn darparu dewis etholiadol cadarnhaol yn lle corff gweinyddol presennol y ddinas.
Dywedodd Anthony Slaughter, arweinydd Plaid Werdd Cymru,
“Mae cydweithio ag eraill i ddod â’r gynghrair gyffrous hon at ei gilydd cyn etholiadau Cyngor Caerdydd y flwyddyn nesaf wedi bod yn ysbrydoledig. Ar adeg o Argyfwng Hinsawdd ac Amgylcheddol ac anghydraddoldeb cynyddol, mae gwleidyddiaeth ‘Busnes fel Arfer’ yn methu ein cymunedau ar bob lefel o lywodraeth.
Nid yw geiriau cynnes ac uchelgeisiau amwys gan gynrychiolwyr etholedig yn ddigon bellach gan fod Caerdydd yn dioddef o golli mwy a mwy o fannau gwyrdd cyhoeddus gwerthfawr, gor-ddatblygu amhriodol a phenderfyniadau chynllunio sydd yn aml yn mynd yn erbyn anghenion y cymunedau yr effeithir arnynt.
Mae Plaid Werdd Cymru o’r farn y dylai pŵer a phenderfyniadau gael eu datganoli bob amser i’r lefel leol fwyaf priodol, a chredwn y bydd y gynghrair hon ar feysydd tir cyffredin yn rhoi cyfle i bleidleiswyr Caerdydd bleidleisio dros newid gwirioneddol a chynrychiolaeth gymunedol wirioneddol.
Mae’r heriau sy’n wynebu ein prifddinas yn rhai brys ac mae angen ffyrdd newydd o feddwl. Y wleidyddiaeth gydweithredol ‘aeddfed’ hyn yw’r newid sydd ei angen.”
Dywedodd Rhys ab Owen AS, sydd wedi cymryd rhan mewn trafodaethau i ffurfio’r gynghrair:
“Mae Plaid Cymru yng Nghaerdydd yn falch o fod yn rhan o’r cyhoeddiad hwn am gynghrair wleidyddol newydd yn ein prifddinas. Y dewis etholiadol newydd hwn yw’r newid sydd ei angen ar Gaerdydd, gan gynnig llais gwleidyddol newydd i gymunedau drwy sefyll o dan un enw ar y cyd ar y papur pleidleisio.
Mae hyn yn ymwneud â chydnabod tir cyffredin rhwng ein pleidiau a’n hymgyrchwyr, a chydweithio i wneud gwleidyddiaeth mewn ffordd newydd a mwy cydweithredol, gan gydnabod yr angen am rym gwleidyddol newydd a fydd yn diogelu ac yn meithrin popeth sy’n dda am Gaerdydd, ac a fydd yn ateb her yr argyfwng hinsawdd a’r gor-ddatblygiad di-hid a di-wyneb a welwn mewn rhannau o’r ddinas.
Rydym wrthi’n estyn allan at y rhai o’r tu allan i wleidyddiaeth a allai rannu ein gwerthoedd ac sy’n gallu gwneud gwahaniaeth.”
Gwahoddir y rhai sy’n dymuno ymuno â’r ymgyrch i gysylltu â ni trwy post@commonground.cymru.

]]>The planned centre will lack many of the facilities needed to properly advance cancer treatment in Cardiff, including intensive care and onsite surgery. 163 healthcare professionals have made it clear that the proposed model is not the right one and that any new centre should be co-located with an acute hospital. Cardiff needs new cancer services, but they must be built in the right place.
The development of the Northern Meadows is a disaster on environmental grounds. As well as destroying wildlife habitats, the build would remove a piece of land which local residents (including those living with and recovering from cancer) have walked for decades and found beneficial to their physical and mental well-being. The build would increase air pollution, including around local schools, putting the health of children at risk.
Debra Cooper, Whitchurch resident, Save the Northern Meadows activist and Green Party member said
“If this build goes ahead, Coryton Primary School and the high rise flats of the Hollybush Estate, will be encircled by pollution. With the M4 to the north, Pendwyallt Road to the west, the building works will add emergency access road 50 metres from the school gate to the south and a building site to the east. The decision to allow this build across green spaces is deplorable.”
Despite Cardiff’s Labour-run council declaring a Climate Emergency in 2019, they have done nothing to oppose this development. In fact, as with the planned destruction of Britannia Park to build a Museum of Military Medicine, Labour have proved perfectly willing to allow vital green spaces to be developed.
It is clear that this development is a poor decision on both health and environmental grounds. With the Cardiff Council elections coming up in 2022, Cardiff residents can send a message that destruction of valued green spaces will not be tolerated.
