Jess Ryan – candidate for Cardiff West
I am a software engineer in the energy industry and keen cyclist based in Cardiff. Having previously been a member of the Labour Party, I joined the Green Party last year as Labour’s views on equality and climate change increasingly clashed with my own views on these matters. Since joining, I have been impressed and inspired by the Green party’s honesty and consistency in addressing these issues. I am particularly passionate about improving the educational attainment of young people from low-income families, as well as in improving the quality and accessibility of public and active transport options. I have volunteered extensively with charities including TeamUp and CoderDojo Scotland who are working to tackle educational disadvantage in the UK, and I am actively involved in researching the application of computational tools towards making the energy grid greener.
