Debra believes that the Whitchurch hospital is a building of historical importance that has been neglected for years, and it should be repurposed into warm, safe homes, or a community asset.
Debra supports the rebuilding of the Velindre Cancer Hospital. Cancer care specialists are now suggesting that the hospital will be safer for patients if it is co located at the UHW. It is vital that these expert opinions are listened to and that the hospital is built without further delay.
Debra says ‘The Northern Meadows are owned by the NHS so are a publicly owned asset. Green space is good for mental and physical well-being and the Meadows should be developed as a natural resource for local schools, residential autistic provision, the local hospice and the community of Cardiff’. Debra strongly believes that the government should hold Citizen’s Assemblies and listen to the community when major decisions are made.
